“After struggling with alcohol addiction for some years and numerous attempts to solve the problem myself, I reached the point where I found I could not do it alone and was at all time low when recommended to The Manor Clinic. The booking-in process was swift and efficient, making the actual process of entering a treatment facility less daunting then I had expected. The staff were kind, understanding of my needs and were totally non-judgmental, which was important for me when I felt very vulnerable. Once admitted, I received an immediate medical assessment by their GP who ensured that my own personal medical needs were promptly met. I was then able to have a period of rest for a day or so until I felt well enough to start the treatment program. This consisted of stimulating therapy sessions that carefully assisted me to understand the nature of my addiction, and the harm it was doing to my loved ones. The programme moved on to address the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous that has helped millions of people around the world to manage alcohol addiction and build successful and normal lives by living without alcohol each day. My mood, thoughts and actions were carefully monitored so that I would be ready to start the longer journey of recovery when leaving the clinic. The treatment was underpinned by regular one-to-one sessions with the consultant psychiatrist attached the clinic. The facilities and food were of excellent standard and the staff at all levels were supportive and caring throughout my treatment. I am now using the 'after-care' facility where I can come back to the Clinic on a weekly basis and work with other recovering addicts to share our experiences. I felt my stay at The Manor was vital to my own health and sanity and has prepared me for my new life ahead.”
