Specialist approach to addiction treatment in Southampton
Addictions are characterised by an individual repeatedly consuming harmful substances such as alcohol or drugs, or regularly engaging in compulsive behaviours such as gambling, despite the significant harm that these activities cause to them and those who are closest to them. These behaviours are repeated because they result in pleasurable or valuable outcomes for the individual, whether these are physical, psychological, or both. This causes them to seek out the substance or activity over and over again until they develop a tolerance to it and a harmful addiction.
Addictions can have a profoundly detrimental impact on all aspects of an individual’s life. They can destroy relationships, cause untold problems at work, and can have a devastating impact on your physical and mental health. At Manor Clinic, our specialist team are committed to delivering high quality treatment and therapy to each individual who seeks support with us, helping you to overcome your addictive behaviours, address the underlying triggers and causes for your addiction, and take steps towards the healthy, fulfilling and addiction-free life you deserve.

Medically assisted withdrawal detoxification
When you are addicted to alcohol or drugs, it may be necessary for you to undergo a medically assisted withdrawal detoxification (detox) process before you start with addiction therapy. During detox, all traces of the substance are removed from your body in a controlled environment, whilst managing the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that you might experience when you no longer have alcohol or drugs in your system.
Detox at Manor Clinic is a robust and comprehensive process, which usually lasts for 7 days. Our experts are able to prescribe specially controlled medication during detox, if this is needed, in order to help manage your withdrawal symptoms and ensure that you are as safe and as comfortable as possible. You will be encouraged to start joining therapy groups as soon as you are physically able to do so.
Our specialist detox bedrooms are located close to our nursing station and you will receive 24-hour care and attention throughout this process, until you are physically stable. You also have access to a buzzer in your room, meaning that you can call for assistance at any point, day or night.
