Why do I need Drug Rehab?

Continued drug use can have a hugely detrimental impact on all areas of your life, affecting you mentally, socially, emotionally and physically. However, it’s important to understand that drug addictions are entirely treatable and it’s possible for you to make a full and sustainable recovery from these devastating conditions.

If left untreated, drug addiction can cause a broad range of severe physical and psychological problems, and can even be fatal. In addition, without expert, timely support, your drug addiction may lead you to develop an addiction to other harmful substances, including alcohol, or lead you to engage in compulsive behaviours such as gambling. That’s why it’s absolutely crucial that you seek treatment as soon as possible, to overcome your drug addiction and regain control of your life.

Signs you may need Drug Rehab

The symptoms associated with drug addictions can vary from person to person and can depend on a number of additional factors. However, there are some signs that can suggest you have a drug problem and should seek treatment.

  • Continuing to take drugs even after experiencing negative repercussions from previous misuse
  • Spending a large amount of time acquiring and using drugs, and attempting to recover from their effects
  • Prioritising drugs over other activities
  • Finding that you need to take the drug in order to function on a daily basis
  • Intense cravings for the drug

There are many more signs of addiction that could present themselves when using drugs, and a Manor Clinic specialist would be able to diagnose these symptoms and offer the right treatment plan for you.

Our drug rehab centre in Southampton provides specialist treatment for a range of drug addictions.

Here are just some of the addiction treatments offered:

What Happens in Drug Rehab?

During our 28-day inpatient drug rehab programme, you will undergo drug detoxification if this is deemed as being necessary, before starting with a rigorous programme of group therapy to overcome your drug addiction symptoms. The purpose of drug detox is to remove all traces of harmful substances from your body in a carefully controlled environment, and help you to manage any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms you may experience. During this process, you will gradually become physically stable, which will allow you to progress to our intensive therapeutic programme where the underlying psychological elements of your drug addiction can be addressed.

During therapy, you will learn effective coping techniques, tackle negative beliefs that may be contributing to your addiction, improve your sense of self-worth and self-esteem, and take steps towards wellbeing.

12 Step Program

Drug rehab at Manor Clinic is based on the world-renowned 12-Step addiction treatment model. This is an abstinence-based philosophy and essentially provides a set of guiding principles for the addiction treatment journey, whilst honing in on your motivation to change unhealthy behaviours. When entering our rehab, one of our specialists will be able to walk you through the 12 steps and our addiction therapy methods so that your recovery journey can begin.

Our most intensive residential treatment programme is our 28-day option, which is the recommended length of treatment for drug addictions. Patients are also encouraged to stay with us for longer than 28 days if this is deemed beneficial for their wellbeing and long-term recovery.

However, it’s also possible for us to offer other treatment lengths, if appropriate. These include:

  • 7-day detox
  • 14-day programme
  • 21-day programme

Former patient talks about his time at Manor Clinic
