Addiction Recovery – Spending Christmas in Rehab at Manor Clinic

If you’re living with an addiction, Christmas can be very challenging. This year, with the added pressures of COVID-19, which has resulted in a many people dealing with issues such as grief, loneliness and job loss, it is likely that you are finding the festive season difficult to cope with.

Known as a season of overindulgence, the normalisation of excess may be causing you to spiral further into your addictive behaviours. The focus on reflection may also be reminding you of incidents that might have occurred over the last twelve months, causing you to turn to unhealthy habits even more than usual in an attempt to cope with painful thoughts and feelings.

If you are thinking about going into rehab over the Christmas period through an Addiction Treatment Programme, or are looking to make an enquiry for someone else, Manor Clinic in Southampton will remain open throughout the festive period. The team at Manor Clinic are dedicated to supporting those who make the decision to put their recovery first over the holiday season.

COVID-19 Update

We continue to accept admissions into our treatment programmes but are adopting screening protocols through the pre-admission process. In order to protect our patients and staff from the spread of COVID-19, we have temporarily suspended family visits to those within our services. All patients will be supported to speak to their family over the phone and via video calls wherever possible.

Christmas within Manor Clinic’s Addiction Treatment Programme

Throughout December, Manor Clinic operates as usual. The team are there to support every person going through an Addiction Treatment Programme, as well as Manor Clinic alumni.

On Christmas Day, the team will keep to a similar routine. In the morning, people will go through their group meditation and therapy groups will still run for the first half of the day. This means people have the opportunity to talk with peers and discuss any challenges around the festive season, sharing support so that nobody feels alone, and checking in on their recovery.

There will still be many opportunities to enjoy the festivities of the day, including a Christmas dinner. There will also be Zoom calls set up to be able to speak to families.

Remember that alumni can always call us for a chat, no matter what time of year it may be.
